Engaging in Data Informed Decision Making in an online environment. 

Full Session Description (as long as you would like): 

It's 2014 and the demands on school administrators and teachers are increasing.  Teachers are expected to increase student achievement but the resources such as time and funding for professional development are not readily available in schools today.  Data Informed Decision Making (DIDM) plays a critical role in development of both classroom and school wide practices but the wealth of information available in educational must be utilized to make instructional decisions.

This session will offer suggestions for creating a culture of data in schools utilizing online communities/resources to allow for collaboration among teachers and administrators in schools.  The following five tasks can be completed without a scheduled “meeting” and limit the time required from participants.

1.  Collect, chart and analyze data from standardized tests

2.  Analyze strengths and obstacles by analyzing student scores and/or work samples

3.  Prioritize needs and set goal(s)

4.  Select Effecting Teaching Strategies that all team members will implement

5.  Identify results indicators

Participants will become immersed in an online community and experience a portion of each part of the data team process.  Time will be available for questions and suggestions for improving the model presented.
