Short Session Description: Using Goodman’s production of Shakespeare’s Measure for Measure, this session will present a sample interdisciplinary lesson plan teaching English, Social Studies, and Math at a high school level.

Full Session Description:

The creative arts are often overlooked as a key component of a modern education. Their powerful ability to build empathy and critical thinking aside, they can also powerfully engage different learning styles and teach core concepts like English, Social Studies, and even Math.

Using Goodman Theatre’s production of Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare, this session demonstrates how to use theatre to teach core subjects like those listed above, and exposes the potential for inter-disciplinary lesson plans.  It will also present examples of free or low cost online resources for teachers who do not have access to a live theatrical production.
