What are your thoughts on moonshot thinking and what are the implications for schools and preparing students to become those innovators. What is your school or district doing to prepare moonshot thinkers?
Design Thinking for Educators is…
A creative process that helps you design meaningful solutions in the classroom, at your school, and in your community. The toolkit provides you with instructions to explore Design Thinking.
I recommend Yong Zhao's book World Class Learners: Educating Creative and Entrepreneurial Students. He lays out a great framework with some super examples.
Moonshot Thinking is also about not being afraid to fail. With the common core students have to be willing to take risks and try to solve difficult problems.
I had the opportunity to show "Moonshot Thinking" at the opening day of school to all teachers, classified, and administrators and it was a great way to help us all think about the mission and purpose of what we do and how we can challenging our thinking of how schools are designed. As we implement the CCSS, we must redesign the high school experience for the 21st Century Learner which is the vision for the Oxnard Union High School District. @OUHSD @sup_du_jour
Moonshot thinking is about empowering creative thinkers to break away from the notion of "the sky is the limit" and derive self-motivation to go beyond "glass ceilings."
Sometimes it looks like this kid.
Schools and leaders need the courage.
