Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
Young people today grow up in a digital world with potential for communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creation. Yet schools face challenges with behavioral issues that arise from students’ use of technology, such as cyberbullying, inappropriate sharing, and plagiarism. Digital citizenship is an essential 21st century skill in which students are safe, responsible, and respectful participants in a digital world. Learn about free, research-based curriculum and resources to help teach students safe, responsible, and respectful participants in a digital world, while fostering 21st-century skills and Common Core Standards. Developed by Common Sense Media, you’ll learn about three resources: 1) Digital Literacy & Citizenship curriculum, available as downloadable PDFs and as multi-touch interactive iBooks; 2) Digital Passport, web-based games for upper elementary where students learn digital citizenship fundamentals; and 3) Educate Families program that provides schools five steps to engage parents around media and technology. Hear about implementation options, family engagement, and tips on to build a positive culture around technology in your school.
