Getting Your Teachers from New York to California in Using Technology in Everyday Instruction (Friday, 8:00am)

How do you begin to move teachers from one level comfort to one that takes the use of technology into a higher level in the classroom? We tried by creating "pioneers and explorers" who we hoped would pave the way for others to follow in the use of classroom technology. What we discovered is that some teachers loved being where they were at and they had no interest in moving. The plan was to move the teachers from New York (no use of technology) to California (being a pioneer of technology). In this session you will get some practical ideas for changing the culture from pioneers and explorers to taking EVERYONE to California. The key was to establish benchmark activity with technology use and more importantly, assuring that there is success for ALL teachers to reach these benchmarks. We will show you how to change the culture of a school in using technology.
