Full Session Description (as long as you would like): In an ever globalizing and highly technological world, it is of central concern to educators to cultivate global and digital citizenship in their classrooms. UClass.org is a Facebook era platform created by and for teachers to open their classroom walls and give k-12 students the opportunity to engage in authentic learning with classrooms around the world. UClass.org opens global feeds to teachers to promote collaboration and students to facilitate educational dialogue. Connected classrooms can access a pen pal network, post multimedia projects and open their eyes to the academic work and culture of classrooms around the world. This socially motivated educational environment promotes achievement by allowing students to develop literacy and technology skills hand in hand with aptitude in critical thinking and global awareness. Hosted by its founders, a full time ed-tech innovator/former teacher and current teacher and UClass user, this workshop will take you on a tour of the tool and the vision behind it to equip educators and administrators with an invaluable pathway to opening opportunity for their students.
